From Michael Greger, M.D., the author of the New York Times bestseller How Not to Die, comes a full-color, fully illustrated cookbook that shares the science of long-term weight-loss success.Greger offers readers delicious yet healthy options that allow them to ditch the idea of ‘dieting’ altogether. As outlined in his book How Not to Diet, Greger believes that identifying the twenty-one weight-loss accelerators in our bodies and incorporating new, cutting-edge medical discoveries are integral in putting an end to the all-consuming activity of counting calories and getting involved in expensive juice cleanses and paid diet programmes. The How Not to Diet Cookbook is a revolutionary addition to the cookbook industry: incredibly effective and designed for everyone looking to make changes to their dietary habits to improve their quality of life. All recipes in this cookbook have been fully anglicized.

I am a big fan of Dr.Greger’s work (his books have brought my lifestyle and health to a whole new level) and was really looking forward to this new cookbook. It is beautiful and has some interesting recipes, but the first book “How not to die cookbook” was better in my opinion. The second book has more specific recipes with longer ingredient lists (some might be tricky to find unless you live in a big city) and longer cooking times. And while from the first book all the recipes we tried turned out great, some of these needed adjustments. Overall, not a bad cookbook, especially if you like to spend more time on cooking and experimenting with different cuisines. But if you’re torn whether to get this one or the first, start there – the recipes are simpler, faster to make, with more accessible ingredients and more traditional tastes. As to the “not dieting” part, that’s absolutely true – just sticking to the Greger’s “Daily Dozen” (most of the time, I still have vegan treats every week), has made me immune to any unwanted pounds.

This review is based on personal experience and based on How not to die + How not to die cookbook as I think it is vital to have both for it work.I was always not that careful about what I eat and suddenly last year after few weeks days off I found myself reaching a horrific number on scale. Few days later I bought those books and lo and behold, reading the book really encouraged me to become more plant based, cut off the processed and ultra processed food, sugar, salt and more useful things to my diet. It really explained how humans process food and how the food industry manipulates you and much more research about many things, give you certainty or abolishing wrong assumptions. The book explains a lot and makes it easier for you to get convinced. Much of the information in there isn’t groundbreaking but he does a great job with giving you the reason and background story behind why we should eat more fruits. Things I always thought was good to do but never really knew why.I started already doing some meals from the cookbook as I was slowly reading the book. As the cookbook has explanation at best approach. You can also download ‘daily dozen’ app. I don’t fill it, I just used it in the beginning to remind myself of try to do best to fill most of them each dayI cut off completely any sugar, salt, and processed food and drinks. I didn’t do any sports and I lost almost 10kgs doing nothing but following his rules and eating healthy. And the cookbook supported to me on how to eat without getting hungry. The cookbook is vegan based. I am not andnim not against it but it’s not something for me. I still eat meat or chicken or fish, but much less so 2-3 times a week. I stopped buying any kind of sweets pr snacks and changed them with fruits and nuts and seeds. I also stil sometimes use oil or butter or bread but very rare. I’m mostly focused on following it as best I can without taking away from my enjoyment of food. For junk food is either a reward after I reach a certain weight and for example, I order now happy meal nothing bigger andnits more than enough.Or if im going out with friends. And if I do that, I try to work out that day to burn as much as possible.I recommend buying instapot as well. It’ll make life easier and freezer bags, as it’s better to cook different things in batch and freeze. Then you don’t have to cook everyday. Thanks to that book, I lead a bit of a healthier lifestyle. A d I encourage that you try to follow this book the best you can and you will Def lose weight without any working out

Wonderful cookbook, have been using it for a few weeks now and I have loved the food. It has taught me how to use miso more often.Great pictures and recipes. I 100% recommend this cookbook

Mit leckeren Rezepten. Die Suppen waren allerdings meine Favoriten. 🙂 Allerdings war die Bolognese auch Klasse – nur zu empfehlen!
